You and Me
You, as a future Tech Savvy Senior
Banking, Retail and Newspapers are all undergoing major changes. Within a few years, many branches and stores will merge their operations. Presently many Newspapers are simply going digital. You will be increasingly asked to do your banking, shopping and reading online. Are you ready?
Don’t despair, going online is much easier that you think. If you have little or no experience with computers, the local library is a good place to start. Many libraries have several courses suitable for beginners. Never hesitate to take the same course more than once. Repetition is the key to success.
The next step is to go online and access resources designed for beginners. I have listed under resources the best available courses.
Me, as a concerned senior
The idea for this blog was conceived one morning after breakfast as I was online travelling the world getting caught up on the latest news. I was thinking how fortunate I was to have access to all of this information when a sudden feeling of distress overcame my well-being. La Presse had just announced that they would only deliver their newspaper on the weekend. I thought how does someone feel if they have received a newspaper in the morning for years and all of a sudden it is no longer.
I am a senior citizen that has worked with computers for many years. In spite of this, each time I learn a new device or software I find it takes more time than it should. It is often overly complicated. I am looking forward to the day when there will be more software and hardware designed with simplicity in mind.
Till then, let’s make sure we are getting access to the best available user-friendly technology. As new simplified products become available, I will keep you informed.
